How to Understand the Text

READING COMPREHENSION

There are seven kinds that we have to attend when we read a text, they are:

1.    Title/Judul

We have to pay close attention of the title as far as possible.

2.    Main idea/Ide utama

In every paragraph only concluded one main idea which is located at the end or at the first paragraph.

3.    Supporting Sentences/Kalimat Pendukung

The sentences after the main idea are supporting sentences.  There are some supporting sentences in one paragraph.

4.    Antonym and Synonym

5.    True/Not true

6.    The content of the text/Isi bacaan

Some questions which are often asked are:

-          The text mainly tells us about……

-          What is the text about?

-          What is the announcement about?

-          From the text, we can conclude that……..

7.    Noun Phrase and Noun Head

Noun Phraseàa number of words which concluded Noun Head which usually appear before Preposition/kata depan (in, on at, up, over, besides, of,…)
